A: The cost of a memorial is based mostly upon the size and type of granite you select. Costs will start in the $300.00 range (for a small flat marker) and go up from there. Upright two-piece monuments will average somewhere in the range of $1,850. Additional options such as vases, color pictures and floral stands will add to the cost.
A: Memorials come in three basic styles;
- 1. Flat or beveled markers. Flat markers can be installed flush with the ground, or be set on a concrete foundation, they are normally 4 inches thick. Beveled markers will be set on a concrete foundation, they are normally are 6 inches tall in the back, dropping to 4 inches thick in the front.
- 2. Slant memorials. These will be installed on a concrete foundation and are usually 16 inches tall resulting in a very steep angled face for lettering, making the memorial readable from a short distance.
- 3. Two piece upright memorials. The traditional looking memorial consisting of an upper tablet on top of a granite base, all setting upon a concrete foundation. They are usually 18-28 inches tall.
